Don’t let hearing loss keep you from the things you love!

If you are one of the tens of millions of Americans who suffer from hearing loss, you may be considering hearing aids, but are uncertain about your options. Talk with Dr. Chanda Abbott, a Doctor of Audiology who specializes in caring for patients with hearing loss to maximize their hearing abilities and quality of life.

“With today’s advances in hearing aids, most people can benefit,” Dr. Abbott says. “Modern hearing aids are small, comfortable, and nearly invisible. They are powerful high-tech devices that improve hearing ability and speech recognition. Improved hearing allows you to regain your ability to relax, listen, and be a part of the conversations going on all around you.”

Dr. Abbott often recommends the revolutionary “Lyric” when appropriate for the patient. Lyric’s unique design makes it the only 100 percent invisible, 24/7 extended wear, showerproof hearing device on the market. “Lyric is different from other hearing aids because it is placed deep in the ear canal during a routine office visit,” Dr. Abbott explains. “Lyric is comfortable, stays in place for months, and can be worn through daily activities like showering, exercise, sleeping, and talking on the phone. In addition, Lyric produces a very natural sound quality.”

Dr. Abbott says that Lyric is not suitable for everyone, and the proper choice of hearing aid device is determined when you visit her office. She also advises that there is much more to improving your hearing than just selecting the right hearing aid.

“There are many businesses that can provide a hearing aid device,” Dr. Abbott says. “My patients know that I am going to provide them with the best care and service, even after their hearing aids are fit.”

Not all hearing loss is remedied by hearing aids. Because of her extensive education and training, Dr. Abbott can determine if your hearing loss is due to underlying medical problems, and if you need referral to an ear, nose, and throat doctor.

Talk with Dr. Abbott if you have difficulties hearing. A simple hearing aid solution may improve your quality of life dramatically.

Dr. Abbott says that her mom’s good friend was a speech pathologist, and inspired her to work in speech and audiology. “I love my work and the instant gratification that restored hearing gives to my patients,” she says. “When they can suddenly hear again, it changes everything for them.”

When she’s not wearing her audiologist hat, Dr. Abbott is an avid sports enthusiast—especially when it comes to baseball and fishing. Over the past 14 years, Dr. Abbott has been to 23 major league ballparks, and has seven left to achieve her goal of visiting every one in MLB.

Her other favorite past time—fishing—was rewarded with a Marlin catch on a sport fishing adventure.

Dr. Abbott lives in Pearland with her husband, son and daughter.
